The pair&#8217;s first release under the <a href=\"https:\/\/musicfeeds.com.au\/feeds\/popular-music\/\">Popular Music<\/a> guise was 2020&#8217;s <em>Popular Music Plays in Darkness<\/em>, which centred on songs of longing and desperation taken from twentieth-century Hollywood films. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group&#8217;s new album, <em>Minor Works of Popular Music, <\/em>is their first collection of original material. It was recorded between Los Angeles, Melbourne\/Naarm, Moscow and New York, and features contributions from <a href=\"https:\/\/musicfeeds.com.au\/feeds\/Deerhoof\">Deerhoof<\/a> drummer Greg Saunier, composer and arranger <a href=\"https:\/\/musicfeeds.com.au\/feeds\/Jherek-Bischoff\/\">Jherek Bischoff<\/a>, and a 17-piece Russian chamber orchestra.
